Project: The Coach House
Location: Lady Bay, Nottingham

Project Overview:
We were proud to be involved in this high-end residential project with McCabe Projects, delivering a sleek, contemporary finish for a new extension at The Coach House in Lady Bay.
Scope of Work:
Our role was to apply a bright white monocouche render to the newly built extension, blending modern aesthetics with the character of the original property. The goal was to create a bold, clean façade that added both visual impact and long-term durability.
Challenges:
Working with a mixed property of traditional and modern elements meant attention to detail was critical. We needed to ensure the new render enhanced the architectural style without clashing with the original structure. Precision in application was key to achieving consistent lines and a smooth, uniform finish.
Our Solution:
We used a high-performance bright white monocouche render system, chosen for its durability, low maintenance, and sharp, modern appearance. Applied with care and precision, it provided a crisp, chalky-white finish that complemented the property’s minimalist design and high-quality build.
Result:
The rendered extension transformed the Coach House into a stunning fusion of old and new. The bright white façade brought a clean, contemporary look that elevated the property’s overall appeal, while also offering excellent weather resistance and longevity.

Project: Vernon Cresent
Location: Ravenshead, Nottingham
Project Overview:
This striking modernisation project in Ravenshead required a fresh new look to match the extensive remodelling work carried out on the property. Originally finished with a monocouche render, the home’s appearance needed updating to align with its bold, contemporary redesign.
Scope of Work:
Our team was brought in by ALS Properties to upgrade the existing external finish without the need for full removal. The solution was to apply a premium silicone thin coat render system directly over the original monocouche base—delivering a clean, modern finish while ensuring cost and time efficiency.
Challenges:
Working over an existing render requires careful preparation and flawless attention to detail. The challenge was to ensure maximum adhesion and durability while enhancing the visual quality of the property’s new façade.
Our Solution:
We prepared the existing render thoroughly and applied a specialist bonding primer before installing a high-performance silicone thin coat render system. This not only revitalised the home’s appearance but also introduced added flexibility, breathability, and water resistance—ideal for long-term performance.
Result:
The property now boasts a fresh, ultra-modern exterior finish that complements the extensive architectural improvements made by ALS Properties. The transformation is visually striking and built to last.

Project: Richmond Drive
Location: Mapperley Park, Nottingham
Project Overview:
Set within the prestigious neighbourhood of Mapperley Park, this project involved enhancing the exterior of a large detached property for a high net-worth client. The existing sand and cement textured render was visually tired and offered little in terms of thermal performance. Our client required a solution that would modernise the appearance while improving energy efficiency—without the disruption typical of full render removal.
Scope of Work:
We installed a full external wall insulation (EWI) system directly over the existing render, eliminating the need for noisy and invasive removal work. The project was completed with a high-performance silicone render topcoat, delivering a clean, modern finish with long-term durability and thermal benefits.
Challenges:
Working in a quiet, well-established residential area meant minimising disruption was a key priority. Additionally, achieving a flawless finish over an older render system required expert preparation and execution.
Our Solution:
We carefully assessed the existing render for stability and then mechanically fixed insulation boards directly over the surface. This was followed by the application of a reinforced basecoat and a premium silicone thin coat render, chosen for its flexibility, breathability, and self-cleaning properties.
Result:
The transformation was both aesthetic and functional. The home now boasts a contemporary, refined exterior with improved insulation, helping to reduce energy bills and increase comfort—all delivered with minimal disruption to the client or their neighbours.

Project: Sibthorpe Cottage
Location: Sibthorpe, Nottingham
Project Overview:
This unique project involved the restoration of a character-filled, 200-year-old cottage in the rural village of Sibthorpe. Over the years, the property had undergone numerous extensions and modifications—unfortunately including the application of a non-breathable cement render, which had led to extensive damp issues within the original structure.
Scope of Work:
Our objective was to carefully strip away the existing cement render and replace it with a fully breathable, heritage-appropriate lime-based render system. The client wanted a finish that would respect the age and integrity of the cottage, while also delivering a clean and refreshed appearance.
Challenges:
Removing old cement render from such a delicate and historic substrate required a skilled, patient approach to avoid damaging the underlying masonry. Inconsistent wall structures from past extensions also meant that achieving a uniform, seamless finish took expert planning and craftsmanship.
Our Solution:
Once the cement render was safely removed, we applied a coloured lime render system specifically designed for historic and moisture-sensitive buildings. This system allows the walls to breathe naturally, preventing future damp build-up while still offering a durable and attractive exterior finish. The chosen colour provided a subtle, modern uplift while maintaining the cottage’s traditional charm.
Result:
The property now benefits from a beautiful, cohesive exterior that not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also protects the original structure by allowing moisture to escape naturally. This restoration has significantly improved the home’s long-term health and appearance, aligning with both conservation best practices and the client’s vision.

Rookery Farm - Cropwell Butler
This bespoke self-build project at Rookery Farm in the picturesque village of Cropwell Butler saw us deliver a full internal and external finish package on a striking contemporary single-storey property. Working closely with the client from early stages, we were responsible for achieving high-end finishes both inside and out.
Scope of Work:
-
Complete internal drylining and plastering throughout
-
Precision skim finishing, including curved ceilings reaching up to 5 metres in height
-
Full external silicone render system installation for a modern, weather-resistant façade
Challenges:
This was not a standard new build. The property featured complex architectural details, including large curved ceiling areas that required exceptional care and craftsmanship to plaster smoothly and consistently. The open-plan spaces and high-level finishes demanded absolute precision to meet the client’s vision.
Our Solution:
Internally, our skilled plasterers provided a flawless skim finish across all surfaces, ensuring seamless transitions and maintaining the smoothness required for the property’s high-spec lighting and interior design. The curved ceilings were carefully floated and hand-finished to maintain form and function.
Externally, we applied a breathable silicone render system over the blockwork, offering both contemporary visual appeal and long-term protection from the elements.
Result:
The finished home is a stunning example of modern rural architecture. Crisp interior lines, elegant curved ceilings, and a sleek, clean render finish on the exterior give the property a refined and timeless look. The client was delighted with the outcome, particularly the attention to detail throughout the build.

Project: The Town house
Location: Lady Bay, Nottingham
Project Overview:
This townhouse in Lady Bay had been previously rendered, but over time the existing system had begun to fail—allowing moisture to penetrate the walls and accelerating visible deterioration. Our goal was to restore the integrity of the building envelope while significantly enhancing the property’s appearance.
Scope of Work:
-
Careful removal of existing, damaged render
-
Structural crack repairs and crack stitching
-
Installation of new lintels above windows
-
Roof extension to improve overhang and protect render
-
Installation of a Monocouche render system
-
Custom contrasting band detail on gable end for visual impact
Challenges:
Once the old render was removed, extensive issues beneath were revealed. Cracked masonry, missing or corroded lintels, and insufficient roof overhang had all contributed to long-term water ingress. Coordinating structural repairs alongside the new render system required precision and a staged, detail-focused approach.
Our Solution:
We began by stabilising the building with crack stitching techniques and installing new lintels to ensure the structural integrity of window openings. To protect the render system long-term, we extended the roofline to provide sufficient coverage. A Monocouche render system was then installed, offering breathability, durability, and weather resistance. On the gable end, we introduced a bespoke contrasting render band to give the home a bold architectural feature and added kerb appeal.
Result:
This tired townhouse was completely transformed into a stylish, structurally sound home with a sharp, modern finish. The new render not only protects the property from future moisture issues but also dramatically improves its visual presence in the street. The gable-end detail adds a unique touch that sets this property apart.

Project: Bramcote Drive
Location: Beeston, Nottingham
Project Overview:
This project involved bringing a tired, dated exterior into the modern era. The property had a heavily textured and discoloured render finish that no longer complemented the recent window upgrades. The client wanted a bold, clean, and contemporary look—and chose a striking blue silicone render to make a statement.
Scope of Work:
-
Careful removal of existing textured render
-
Installation of new silicone render system to the upper elevation
-
Protection and preservation of exposed brickwork on the lower elevation
-
Clean transitions between materials and around new windows
Challenges:
The key challenge on this project was maintaining the integrity and cleanliness of the original brickwork on the lower section of the house. The client wanted to retain the brick as a feature, so great care was needed during preparation, application, and finishing of the new render above it.
Our Solution:
We fully masked and protected the lower brickwork using professional-grade sheeting and edge detailing to prevent staining or overspray during removal and rendering. A breathable, flexible silicone render was then applied to the upper elevation, providing a smooth, modern finish with excellent weather resistance. The bold blue colour selected by the client gave the property a fresh, unique identity that perfectly complemented the new window units.
Result:
The transformation was remarkable. The crisp new render contrasts beautifully with the preserved brickwork, creating a modern and dynamic exterior. The blue tone gives the property a standout look while maintaining an elegant, refined finish.

Project: Inglenook
Location: Barnstone,Nottingham
Project Overview:
Set in the rural village of Barnstone, this property had recently undergone a major remodelling with multiple extensions. To complete the transformation, we were brought in to install a full wrap-around render system that would unify the old and new sections of the home while enhancing its countryside charm.
Scope of Work:
-
Removal of tired existing render
-
Installation of bright white silicone render to entire exterior
-
Addition of a brick slip feature detail along the lower elevation installed by other contractors
Challenges:
The goal was to bring consistency and crispness to a property that had been heavily altered over time, while also ensuring the finish respected the rural surroundings. The combination of old and new structures meant we had to manage varying substrates and transitions carefully. Attention to detail was essential—especially where the render met the new brick slip feature.
Our Solution:
We removed the existing render and fully prepared all external surfaces before installing a premium bright white silicone thin coat render system. This breathable, low-maintenance finish brought a clean and modern look that still felt in keeping with the countryside setting. To ground the look and add character, a brick slip detail was installed around the base of the home, creating contrast and visual balance.
Result:
The finished home is now a seamless blend of traditional charm and contemporary finish. The bright white render adds light and sharpness, while the brick slip base anchors the home beautifully within its rural surroundings. The exterior now matches the quality of the interior renovations and extensions.
